RAMS feedback from a PlanOps customer

“The way it assesses a subcontractor’s RAMS, identifies the gaps and produces a toolbox talk is just amazing.”

Darren, Project Manager
  • See the finding and what to ask the subcontractor for.
  • A critical gap limits the score, even if the rest of the document is good.
  • AI findings need checking against the document and your site.

What you get back

See what needs checking or changing

Each check is marked met, partially met or not met. Where there is a gap, the review shows how serious it is and what to ask for. If any check is not met and the gap is critical, the score cannot be higher than 49 out of 100.

Download the review as a PDF. Your private result link works until the date shown on the result. Check the findings before asking for changes.

PlanOps RAMS Review Standard v2.1.0

Document check: 13 checks run. The other 7 compare the RAMS with your project details, which this free check doesn't have.

49/100

Serious gaps · capped

  1. Emergency arrangements

Harness use is specified. No rescue method, equipment or named rescuer is given.

    Not met

    Critical

  2. Control measures

Controls are detailed, but live testing and fall-arrest recovery are deferred to documents that aren't attached.

    Partially met

    Major

  3. Scope of works stated and specific

Locations, boundaries, exclusions and interfaces are stated well enough to audit the rest against.

    Met

  4. Hazard identification

Task hazards are identified, but the live-test and COSHH assessments the controls depend on aren't evidenced.

    Partially met

    Major

  5. Temporary works

Coordination, TWC contact, scaffold handover and restrictions are stated.

    Met

plus 8 more checks in the full result

7 checks weren’t run. Checks 14 to 20 compare the RAMS with what you asked for on this job: the hazards you flagged, the legislation you named, any permit or temporary works, what the work actually is, and your site rules. This free check hasn’t got any of that, so they weren’t run. They’re not passed and they’re not failed. Check them yourself, or run the RAMS in PlanOps with your project details and it’ll do all 20.

Before you upload

Five reasons a RAMS gets sent back

  1. 1. It isn't about this site

The hazards, access routes and work described could be for any site.

  2. 2. The controls don't match the hazards

The method statement doesn't say how the identified risk is controlled.

  3. 3. No sequence, just a list

Nobody can tell what happens before the next step starts.

  4. 4. Nobody's named

Supervision and emergency roles can't be put into practice.

  5. 5. The paperwork doesn't agree with itself

Versions, approvals and dates point to different documents.

PlanOps RAMS Review Standard

Bigger risks have more effect on the score

The PlanOps RAMS Review Standard sets out twenty checks, called criteria. This free review runs the 13 checks that need only the RAMS document. The other checks need your project requirements and site rules.

Some gaps matter more

A missing signature and a missing rescue plan do not take the same number of points off the score.

Serious gaps limit the score

A serious gap sets a maximum score. Meeting other checks cannot cancel it out.

Know the limits

This review cannot inspect the site or confirm that the controls have been put in place. It also cannot confirm that your project requirements have been met.

Data handling

What happens to your document?

The service reads the text in your document to produce a review. It keeps the findings and reports, which may include quotes from your document.

The website does not save your file
Your browser reads the text from your file and sends only the text for review. If it cannot, the website reads the file without saving it to its own storage.
Review links expire
The result page shows when your private link expires. Anyone with the link can read the result, so share it carefully.
Findings and reports are kept
The text sent for review is deleted by a scheduled process. This does not delete the findings or reports, which can include quotes from your document.

Questions

What is a RAMS?
A risk assessment and method statement (RAMS) sets out the risks of a job and how the work will be done safely. Check that it describes the actual work, site and controls people will use.
What does RAMS stand for?
RAMS stands for risk assessment and method statement. The risk assessment identifies hazards and controls; the method statement explains the sequence of work and how those controls will be used.
Does this approve a RAMS?
No. It checks the document only. A competent person, with the right skills, knowledge and experience for the work, still needs to decide whether the RAMS is suitable for the site.
What happens if the scan can't be read?
The review stops and explains that no score or findings were produced. Try again with a PDF where you can select the text, or a Word document.
Can I keep the result?
Yes. Download the review record as a PDF. The private result link works until the expiry shown on your result.
